Lew’s Introduces Kevin VanDam Signature Fishing Rods

Oct 06, 2023

Lexington, S.C. – Give a company with a reputation for building world class products the input of the most legendary professional angler in the history of the sport, and results of such a collaboration will be spectacular.

In collaboration with Bass Fishing Hall of Fame inductee Kevin VanDam, Lew’s is proud to announce the new, 23 model KVD Series of fishing rods. VanDam said that a lot of time and effort was put into the series, and that he is pleased with the results. “The team at Lew’s is made up of talented designers, and they told me to let them know what I wanted in my series,” he said. “I have always loved the feel of fast and extra fast actioned rods, and Lew’s worked hard to bring exactly the feel I wanted into each model; they do exactly what I need them to.”

The new series features premium IM8 graphite blanks, split-grip EVA handles, brand new Lew’s proprietary Full Contact reel seats with increased blank contact, rear locking reel seat on spinning models for improved comfort, stainless steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts with strengthened stainless steel with zirconia insert tip top for optimal durability for use with braided lines and a patented “No Foul” hook keeper – each for a retail price of $99.99.

The new KVD series rods are constructed on a raw graphite blank with the rich midnight fire red finish through the handle and black guide wraps, matching the famous KVD color scheme.

Included in the KVD lineup are 10 Graphite Casting models for single hook techniques, 7 Graphite Spinning models for everything from finesse tactics to Great Lakes smallmouth techniques and 6 Composite Casting techniques for crankbaits and other moving baits.

Each model is prominently marked on the blank for easy identification of series, length, and power. The Graphite Casting models are marked with a GC1 through GC10, Graphite Spinning models bear the GS1 to GS7 system and the Composite Casting rods are labeled CC1 through CC7. This new labeling system will help VanDam more easily see which rods he needs in competition, will help him in communicating the rod he uses for specific techniques, and will help consumers choose which model they want to use more effectively.

VanDam said that providing a high-quality product at an affordable price was a key component of their efforts. “I really wanted to be able to produce a rod that would retail for around $100, but felt and performed like a high-end rod,” he said. “Everyone on the project was committed to that goal, and the results speak for themselves; I can’t wait to see the reaction from anglers when they pick them up.”

The new KVD Series will be available at fishing tackle retailers beginning in the fall of 2020.
