Zoe Ball recalls past holiday romances amid rumours of split from boyfriend

Mar 04, 2024

Zoe Ball took a look back on her past relationships and admitted she was no stranger to a holiday romance.

The 52-year-old presenter divulged personal information about her life as a young singleton while chatting with Alan Carr, 46, during a recent interview amid rumours she had split from her boyfriend.

Model Michael Reed and Zoe were thought to have called time on their five-and-a-half-year relationship after they reportedly ‘drifted apart’.

Getting candid, the Radio 2 host revealed she once enjoyed a summer romance with a surfer and shared that she used to be a big fan of an international love interest.

She appeared on the comedian’s podcast series Life’s a Beach where the famous face quizzes celebrities about their unique travel stories.

Zoe let slip intimate details from her trip to Mexico years ago and told Alan: ‘I did always quite like a holiday romance. Fell in love with a surfer in Mexico.

‘He’s probably married with kids so I won’t tell you his name” to which Alan joked: “He’s here tonight, here he is…’

Enjoying her honesty, the podcast presenter said that most of his other guests had denied ever having a holiday romance.

Alan went on to pay back the favour and dived into his own love life, telling Zoe: ‘You open your suitcase and you go “oh my god I haven’t packed my morals. No one knows who I am here, I can be a slag.”’

The BBC radio presenter responded by sharing more romantic revelations with Alan from a trip to Greece.

She explained: ‘I fell in love with a Greek boy once, rode on the back of his moped. He was lovely.’

The star’s chat with the funnyman followed her admissions she was ‘absolutely gutted’ at having to pull out of covering the Coronation Concert for BBC Radio 2 at the last minute – after falling ill.

Zoe was due to present a show from the grounds of Windsor Castle on Sunday evening ahead of the star-studded event which will feature performances by Take That, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

Scott Mills stepped in and took her place to chat with the crowd ahead of the concert, while Dermot O’Leary was backstage speaking to the stars before they performed.

On Sunday morning, Zoe tweeted: ‘Absolutely gutted… the sickness bug has got me. Was meant to be heading to Windsor Castle for the #coronationconcert on @BBCRadio2 later.

‘@radioleary and @scott_mills have got you covered. I’m heading back to bed [sic].’
